The Basics
How does the policy work?
  1. A tornado event damages your insured property
  2. The National Weather Service (NWS) will go out and survey the damaged areas. This is done automatically and you do not need to coordinate anything. They usually will publish this data within a few days
  3. Sola will collect National Weather Service data to determine if you may have sustained damage from the tornado.
  4. Sola contact you via text and email asking if your insured property received damage from the tornado
  5. You respond (attest) on if you have suffered a loss in a timley manner either from the text or email we send you
  6. If your insured property received damage from the tornado event, you can log into your account to choose your preferred claim payment method. If you dont have an account set up you can create one using your policy information.
  7. You choose your preferred claim payment method and the money will be transferred. The money can be used to cover anyout of pocket expenses allowing you to bounce back faster.
What does the policy cover?
After the direct deposit claim payment method is entered the payment will be directly deposited into your account, providing you the flexibility to use it as you see fit. Popular options include covering your homeowners' policy deductible or addressing any out-of-pocket expenses that may arise following a tornado.
How is the payout amount determined?
The coverage amount is determined by the Enhanced Fujita level (EF) as designated by the National Weather Service at the home's location. The Enhanced Fujita (EF) level is a scale used to show how intense and damaging a tornado is. The higher the EF level and the limit you purchased, the higher the potential payout depending on the policy purchased

Unlike traditional home insurance policies, Sola provides a fast payout within a few days using data from the National Weather Service.
Doesn't my main home insurance cover tornadoes?
Maybe. Most home insurance covers tornados. However all insurance policies have gaps. The purpose of the Tornado Crisis Policy is to help cover out-of-pocket costs, deductibles, and exclusions that may occur from the main home insurance coverage. Our policy pays within a few days, whereas most carriers take weeks or months to payout. Many homeowners during this time have to pay for debris clean-up, gas, groceries, accommodation and other out-of-pocket expenses.
How does the policy relate to my main home insurance policy?
Our policy works independently of any other policy. While working through the main home or business policy claim, our Tornado Crisis Coverage will be there to help cover whatever is needed most.
Can someone have multiple properties covered?
Yes, an individual may be able to purchase Sola for any location they live in or own.
How long does it take to receive the disaster benefit after a tornado has struck?
Sola aims to pay valid claims within a few days after a tornado has struck. This depends on when the National Weather Service (NWS) surveyors have completed their work and their data is uploaded. This is much faster than most traditional home insurance policies, which may take weeks or months to payout.
Can I cancel the policy at any time?
You can do so whenever you choose. Before cancelling, it is advised to discuss the terms and circumstances of the policy with a Sola representative or your agent
