For residents of the highest-risk wind and hail storm-struck areas, a roof replacement need or a new home build could be an opportunity to consider a shift to new roofing materials altogether.
There are options available to homeowners willing to consider a metal roofing solution. These materials are available in Class-4 types that also offer up to four times the expected lifespan due to superior durability.
Metal roofing is often rated for winds up to 150 mph, with premium metal roofing solutions able to withstand between 160 and 180 mph.
Another set of options to consider are shingles of synthetic, composite materials. Synthetics provide even greater wind resistance than most metal solutions, and a similarly impressive projected lifespan of at least 50 years of use.
Synthetic roofing costs more than asphalt shingles, but less than metal solutions, positioning it as an attractive middle-ground alternative for homeowners looking for a better way to ‘harden’ their home against severe weather conditions that may frequent their area.
